When You Want the Piece to Help Someone
Boulder County is fortunate to have organizations that do more than resell donated furniture. A few of them carry your pieces straight into the home of a neighbor who is starting over with nothing.
HomeAhead
HomeAhead is a Boulder County furniture bank that gives gently used sofas, tables, and beds a second life in homes that need them most. Since 2019, they’ve furnished homes for more than 1,500 people in the county, many of them moving out of homelessness and into a place of their own.
Most of their donations are gently used basic home furnishings and household goods. Think sofas, tables, beds, or dressers. Think the essentials that make a house comfortable.
Their Longmont location accepts donations during open hours, generally Thursdays from 10am to 1pm and Saturdays from 10am to noon. Hours can shift, so confirm before you load the car. And if you can’t haul the furniture yourself, HomeAhead runs a fee-based furniture removal service, which both helps you and helps fund their mission.
Families who qualify for HomeAhead’s services receive 5 to 10 pieces of furniture for a small service fee, usually between $75 and $200. Ultimately, your dining table may become the first place a family sits down together in their new home!
TRU Community Care Thrift Shop
Donations to the TRU thrift shops support hospice care across the area. A meaningful fit if comfort and dignity at the end of life is a cause close to you, like it is for us.
The Inn Between of Longmont
This housing nonprofit accepts quality furniture and also keeps a consignment account at a local home furnishings store, so your donation supports families working toward stable housing.

If you have furniture in good condition, especially upscale or distinctive pieces, selling can be worth the effort. Consignment is the most common path in the county.
